An enlightening and challenging Gospel retelling

This novel offered me a new lens through which to view a story I thought I knew well. While I enjoyed getting to know Judas in all his human flaws and good intentions, I especially appreciated opportunity to read about a fleshed out Jesus: cranky, persistent, devoted, merciful. Fully God and fully man. This novel was easy to read withoutbeing simplistic; it taught me some of the historical context surrounding the Gospel stories and broadened my understanding of Jesus as Prince of Peace.
